First Days of School

I know I haven't posted in a few days, but I just started school on Monday. This means that except for Wednesday, I am not home for a good chunk of time until seven in the evening. And then I have to do my homework. Anyway, I wanted to talk about my first few days. First, we got unlimited texting on our phones on Saturday. This isn't about school but it's very exciting for me! Here's the school stuff.

The first day of school was pretty tame. All we did pretty much was go over syllabi in the classes. Pretty much everyone in my Accounting class is there because they are a business major/transfer or they've come back to school and are being paid to become accountants/business majors. I also discovered that all videos concerning nature are narrated by Morgan Freeman. I really really enjoy my English and Accounting classes and you can tell that the teachers both enjoy their subject and know how to engage their students. Both are necessary for an excellent teacher.
Yesterday I realized that college is a treadmill and a stairmaster all in one. I ran from the parking lot halfway across campus and up two flights of stairs in three minutes to get to Accounting yesterday. Needless to say, parking sucks. Especially considering the fact that I arrived at the school thirty minutes before class. After class I went to my car and drove to my piano lesson, which I was thirty minutes early for. So I read my Economics book and took a ten minute nap while I waited. Then I spent a good fifteen to twenty minutes after my lesson chatting with my teacher. I can earn an achievement award in my piano studies if I complete some stuff by June and I really want to try for it.
Today was also fairly tame. I was told by my Economics teacher that I wasn't allowed to answer any more questions after a certain point, but that was mostly because I had a lot of the answers and when he asked what I would do if I had more money I said buy books (completely true by the way). I also got to spend some time with Mom at her work because I had some precious downtime between my last class and volunteering. Volunteering rocked because we spent the time organizing books for the book sale going on this weekend. As reward for our efforts, we got soda, pizza, and two free books! I actually brought home three and only had to pay a dollar for my extra. I got an illustrated version of The Little Princess, a book I already own (and my mom has never read, can you believe it?), but I love the illustrations. I think that as we get older we seriously underappreciate the value of pictures in books. I also got the version of The Secret Garden (another book I already own) that is the version I read the first time I ever read it. Last, I got a copy of The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory. We also played this game at youth group tonight called Amoeba. The goal is to not touch the chair and don't let go of the hand on either side of you. Then everyone tries to get others to touch the chair. I had someone hook their leg under mine and trip me on to the chair. Not that I need much help to go down. I pretty much would have fallen anyway. It was actually a lot of fun. Overall, not a bad day.
 Stay smart people
