Psych 3x08 Review

LOVED this episode. And, okay, a lot of it came from the Shassie vibes...but there was so much more to it. Kind of a long review this week:

This episode was even further proof that there's only so many guest actors in Vancouver! ;-)

You know...I think the Shules may be going the way of the Jam from The Office...you love it...then they give it to you and it seems forced and you don't want it AS much...yeah...definitely going that way.

lol I'm pretty sure I recognized a few of the extras as well...but I couldn't find their names to check.

It's sad about the Shules. I really really wanted them after the scene in "Bounty Hunters"...but now I kind of would rather they hate each other or something. It's sad, but sometimes the sexual tension just plays better than the actual relationship.

I just want the moments...not the Shawn blatantly going after her when he's SO not ready for a realtionship with her.

Yeah the flirting's been cute...but they're almost making it seem like he's pining after her...and that's just getting annoying.

But then I kind of have to wonder if I'm identifying Shawn too much with Jack Harkness....and pushing my Jack/Gwen issues onto Shawn/Juliet. And then I wonder how in the world I began comparing Psych to Torchwood....

You pretty much hit it on the head about the whole likes of this episode. Loved all the relationships getting some spotlight.

But I also just don't see Shules happening. Especially when your main cast is basically 4 characters, hooking 2 of them up seems kind of awkward. With them pushing for it this hard, I really want there to be a twist at the end. For example, all this "tension" comes to a build up and they finally kiss or something and there's like no chemistry at all. (Like in P.S. I Love You!) And they both go "hmmm...oh well!" It would totally work with this show.

Oooh...I like your idea of a twist. I loved that part in P.S. I Love You and I can totally see it working for Psych. Hmm...you've given me something to ponder now....

haha, I've been thinking of it ever since this season started. The writers should so do this!

I'd definitely like it! If they're going to push something so hard...there has to be a decent payoff at the end.

I agree, especially with the Shawn/Jules stuff. The two of them together just... don't work, and I'm sick of being shoved down our throats all of the time. I just can't buy that Shawn is really, honestly interested in HER, rather than she's an attractive, kick-ass female and is there, and so he must flirt with her, just because.

But the Shawn/Lassiter! I completely love how their relationship has evolved, slash or no. You watch an episode from early on the first season, then watch this episode, and their interactions and body language towards each other have relaxed so much and they trust each other. Plus, Shawn called him his partner! Ha.

I like the idea that Shawn has to flirt with Juliet because she's there. Maybe like a conquest thing? Especially considering how he stopped to introduce himself to the other chick behind the police barricade.

I have fallen so hard for the Shawn/Lassiter. I didn't really get it until this summer...but now I'm borderline obsessed with it. And this episode more than any other (in my opinion at least) kind of put them on an equal level where it wasn't so much "they have naughty sex in the police station" (which is still quite fun to think about) as it was "they look like they care about each other". Maybe I just want to see it.

I think so too. I'm just not getting any real romantic vibes from him. Plus the fact that Jules just seems to keep flip-flopping on whether she has feelings for him makes me even more convinced that they shouldn't get together -- or it should be a cool twist thing, like in the comments above.

Dude, yes. Shawn/Lassiter used to be "LOL hatesex", but now it's turned out to be so much more than that. And honestly? I'm pretty sure the writers put the subtext in there on purpose. Not because it'll actually happen, but because they are clearly very much aware of the slash fandom (which also explains the Shawn/Gus stuff that crops up, even though I don't like that ship).

I definitely think the writers like to provoke reaction...and they enjoy doing it through the slash fandom. They probably sit in their Writers Room with a laptop giggling over the smut they can find. ("Lassiter put his finger where!?") And then they think "Oh! What if we have Shawn sit in his lap?" "That'll really get them going!" I bet they have a lot of fun.

I kind of want his character to return...just so I can love to hate him. Does that make sense?
