Destined to be Run Over Due to Not Paying Attention

May 26, 2014 21:53

People in airports that can't help constantly talking on the phone or try to engage others in conversation annoy me.
I usually find an empty gate and camp out while awaiting my flight and escape the yackers.
But you're stuck if such person is near you on said flight.

Today, an older man sitting behind me talked the entire 3.5 hour flight from BWI to DFW. Everything and nothing.
I almost asked him to quit talking for about 15 minutes but kept my cool.
The guy sitting beside him was young and seemed to enjoy bellowing just as much.

How Oblivious?
One of the dreaded air travel snafus finally happened on my flight: one passenger needed immediate medical attention.
I noticed commotion about 6-8 rows back and about a minute later the captain made a request for medical professionals
on the PA stating it was an emergency. Luckily, people with medical training stepped up to help.

The guy behind me? Kept talking, not noticing a thing [even through the announcement].

The passenger was given oxygen; no further attention needed. Didn't ask what was wrong but the defibrillator
though brought out, wasn't used. I'm glad the plane didn't need to land immediately. Small bonus is that the plane landed
immediately in DFW, due to the health issue onboard.

Punchline
After landing, an announcement requested everyone stay seated so paramedics could attend to the passenger.
[who walked -unassisted, with the paramedics off the plane].

Mr.Chatterbox asked aloud, “oh, I guess something happened?”
