Beer Tasting 03142013
Assurbanipaul, Morris729, PugDog & I gathered at WBC for a small tasting session.
Six beers -aside from session beers. Speaking of which, Thirsty Planet's Franklin Smoked Porter is
the best Texas brewed porter to date. Subtle smoke that builds and if they still have on tap for Free Pizza Monday
-I'm there with chili peppers to make a chili smoked porter.
Into the Soul Crusher
In more or less the order I recall with minimal tasting notes:
Smuttynose Homunculus - I hate Smutty because their delicious beers aren't distributed in Tejas
Viven Smoked Porter -glorious smokey porter receiving preference on next week's beer smuggling venture.
Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot Barleywine -just right but not quite for top tier -slightly light body.
FreeTail Berliner Weisse -tart fraulein that cleansed our palettes real good like
Victory Storm King Impy Stout 2005 -held up quite well but nothing enhanced due to aging
Avery Samael 2007 -at six years aging, this beer could still take out a platoon of hypoglycemics.
Finalmente
Always a good night when beer tasting though Alien didn't round out the crew. Going to have to figure out how to drag him
back into the mix or maybe snag a job in his company/department to shore things up.
