Racing Beasts Can’t Beat the Sun

For Memorial Day,Assurbanipaul met up with Morris729 and I at Lonestar Park for the inaugural “Studs and Suds Microbrew Festival”. The combination of a couple of new beers plus a first time visit to horse racing looked promising.

A couple beer distributors put out quite a few beers at $2 for a 6oz tasting. Sometimes it’s not worth it to buy a six-pack just for a taste.

I’m sad to report no Hunter S.Thompson-esque macings occurred. The soulless pop rock band playing between races furthered my understanding why people throw things at bands. Ironically, I checked out their myspace and the recorded music was a lot better than the live version. Studio magic, indeed.

I’m A Temporary Redneck
With work the next day, I took it easy on the cerveza especially with a couple hours in the heat. My neck is sunburned nice and red. Yee-haw!

I’ll definitely go to the track again, we might hold a beer tasting there - you can bring in your own coolers. I don’t know if I’ll go to the time/trouble it takes to be able to bet on the races though.
