BB reclist #3

Jul 23, 2012 10:56

While checking my own comments on the BB artworks, I came across some beautiful images made for spn_illuminated that I just have to add to the reclist: look at these wonderful prompt-drawings that were the inspiration for The Other End by artist vail_kagami. - I love the drawing with the flowing hair and dark shadows, it can be interpreted as either sad or dreamy. The sketched scene is pretty cool too; the strong multiple pencil lines give their hands and arms a sense of movement. I like it lots. Go give these some love!

Now, on to the spn_j2_bigbang!

BB 2012 reclist part three
ARTRECS
Full disclosure: I'm starting with recommendations of two of my friends:)
Marvelous markerdrawings of ALL the scenes in Elsinore by artist cassiopeia7:
I like the limited use of colour (I was gonna say that I loved the shades of grey but that sounded weird all of a sudden) Also: quoting the actual Hamlet in the headers is very cool and the lettering seems so fitting of the times. It's all good.

Pencil and watercolours for Fall Down At Your Door (check out the progress gif!) and Not Such A Damsel In Distress by artist sillie82: It's always hard to decide which versions I like better: the black & white or the full on coloured drawings. *chinhands*

Paintover-art for In The Name of The Father, The Son And The Zombie Spirit by artist marciaelena: Such a strong over all set design with very well chosen different images. The colours and lettering are perfect. I like that the scenes all face the same direction.

Wonderful paintings for Beginner's Luck by artist amindaya: Scroll down to the magnificent scene-images, they are magical. I love the colours and the texture of the dragons. Jared and the tiny dragon are adorable and the nymph is beautiful (and a little terrifying;).

Charcoal, graphite and watercolors for Films About Ghosts by artist sophiap: A beautiful set of work, I love all of sophiap's techniques! On top of the great drawings, the composition of the banner is awesome as well. I want to put The Desert and The Wall side by side on my -ehm- wall. (The Road and The Mountain would look good together too:) Good stuff.

Videotrailer and digial designs for 1/1,095 Days by artist eyestoowide: Absolutely beautiful video; eyestoowide managed to totally give it an RPF feel and the build up is glorious in both sound and images. The additional artwork is once again great; the colour theme is gorgeous and such a contrast with the other BB claim (see reclist #1;) I definitely recognize the style and yet this is another unique set that is clearly made to fit the story.

Coloured drawings for Baiatul Pierdut (The Lost Boy) by artist mythicbeast: Skip the text banner and move on to the beautiful artwork. It's very well executed and fitting to the story. I was mesmerized by the colour of Jared's eyes. Love how Jensen's cape provides a background for the lettering, that's a wonderful composition:) All the heraldry related designs are great; Perfect textures and colouring and adorable clothing drawings. Great stuff.

FICRECS
I checked out the art before reading, but it shows spoilers of scenes, so it's up to you to contain yourself;)
Story: Don't Let the Sunlight Call You Homeward by akadougal
Quick Summary: only my favorite pairing of Jensen Ackles/Jeffrey Dean Morgan as MEREMEN IN SPACE \o/ *squeeeeeeeeeee* [NC-17 / 26,500]
*purrrrs* Oh, this was just a delight to read, I feel like I just had a cuddle with my favorite pairing, mmmm. I love the world akadougal build and the details about the way bodies were modified for living under water, including the different way of moving. I also liked that there were rational issues and consequences to think of, even though it all reads like a fairytale;)
Artist: leyna55 made massive paintings to accompany this wonderful story and I hung out in the artpost for a while until I caught my breath again. The fantastic images by themselves make me roar with excitement and the added thoughtprocess just made me swoon. Hot dayum. Look at those gills and other glorious details. This is WIN all over.

Other recommended stories with other awesome pairings:
Water Is Moving Underground - lazy_daze
Artist: scarletscarlet
Pairing: Jared/Jeffrey Dean Morgan [NC-17 / ~50,000]
Quick description: "Post-apocalypse fic with Jeff as resistance fighter who saves Jared's life. Biological warfare gone wrong has given people unexpected powers."
I already recommended the artwork for this in reclist #2 and the fic is just as amazing. It's first and foremost a wonderful intriguing and action-packed story, regardless of the pairing. But lazy_days also managed to make the attraction between the two of them work despite the contrast of age and point of view (doubt vs determination). I loved their conversations and how much was said in silence. Great story from beginning to end.

Rattling Your Locks - cherie_morte
Artist: flitter_and_fly
Pairing: Jared/Jensen [NC-17 / 50,240]
Quick description: "Alpha!Jared is the pleasure slave of new master RuthlessCEO!Jensen. But the more Jared learns about him, the less he seems to fit into the assumptions that Jared has made."
I must admit I still get confused about the whole Alpha/Omega/Beta dynamic and this was a fascinating exploration of the difference, made even more interesting by being situated in a slave-world. It certainly adds another layer to the equality issue. It is also extremely hot.*grins*

And last but not least: my own new artwork is online now! For To See The World In A Grain Of Sand by belledewinter. A steampunk J2 version of Around The World In 80 Days! Check it out?
