ATTENTION, ATTENTION. EMERGENCY. WE ARE TRAPPED IN A HOUSE WITH FOUR BAGS OF EASTER CANDY. EMERGENCY.
Kidding. I mean, my dentist called from Great Falls at 8 am to reschedule my appointment this afternoon, because her house is near a creek, but also because her staff wimped out. I have two fillings that are failing and need replacement, and never enjoy people messing with my teeth, so this is a mixed blessing. After all, those fillings gotta come out sometime, and having Suzanne do it will hurt less.
To celebrate, I am eating a fun-sized 100 Grand candy bar for breakfast, with hot black decaf in a big rustic mug. Mmmmmmm civilization. Later, because my hair will be standing on end listening to the wind trying to blow trees on to my house, I may try to find a valium. With as much medication as they have thrown at D over the years, there has go to be one somewhere under the fridge, in between the sofa cushions, rattling around in an errant bottle.
They are telling us to stay off the roads today, and the government, schools, etc., are all closed, so I am doing one last load of dishes before the power goes out. Oh, and I should go get all those bills out of my mailbox, because the mailman isn't coming if the government is closed, right?
EDIT: That afternoon, my husband went to see the cardiologist because he has been having what he thought was upper body muscle strain from the PT for his hip, but wanted to be sure. They strapped him in, the doctor looks at the EKG, and says, "Hm, you're apparently having a heart attack as we speak, so I'll go call an ambulance." It was very exciting, he said, because the office staff I guess were used to seeing people before and after Events, not during.
The doctor called me, introduced himself and said, "I don't want to alarm you, but..." Hahahaha - There is nothing a cardiologist can say to a guy's wife, after that intro, that will not be alarming. They did an angiogram before I even got to INOVA Fairfax, and inserted a stent all within a few hours. Medical science is a wonder.
