Inspiring Video to Brighten Your Day

This three-part series of videos is absolutely lovely. It's about a (real) man who finds a roll of black and white film - and how he found the owner of it. The man's voice has a curious mixture of hesitance and inspiration, and it made me smile.

In other news, I spent a nice day in Amiens with my friends. Though it was almost too cold to enjoy everything - we could see our breath when we visited the interior of its famous cathedral! - we found (several) lovely cafés and coffeeshops, wandered along the canals, and went shopping.

I bought a fabulous pair of shoes to replace the boots that I bought in Bordeaux and absolutely loved... to pieces. I've worn them every day since then and the heels were too far gone even for the cobbler to repair. At the end of the day after that a hole was worn through the sole and it actually split. I think it's time to retire them. They served me well.

I got off the metro one stop early this morning on my way back from a friend's place on the train line between Rouen and Amiens, and stopped by a nice bakery to get a baguette still warm out of the oven. I spent an hour drinking tea and eating it with three different kinds of French cheese, and chatting with my sister on Skype. A lovely Sunday morning in France!

moving pictures, oh those crazy french, daguerreotypes and other photography, happiness, inspiration, oh those crazy americans
