If you've taken biotin...how long did it take for you to notice a difference, if any?

I just picked up some Biotin today. The dosage on the bottle says take 500 mcg per day but I've read somewhere you may take more. For those of you who take Biotin what dosage do you take? Also how long after you started taking it did you notice it's effectiveness? Thanks!

for a once-a-day dosage of 5000 mcg, how long would it take to see actual results in hair growth?
