The right foundation. It's kind of like the Holy Grail. There are whispers it exists, but somehow the search never seems to end. There are a couple of things I would like an opinion on.
First, I have sensitive + combination + acne prone skin. Fair skinned as well (must be that Irish ancestry ;-) ). So if anyone has recommendations for a good liquid foundation for such a skin type, I'd love to hear it. The main problems I find are that things either don't have enough coverage, but might go on and sink in nicely....don't last (Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation, I'm looking at you) or they have the coverage but there's a tendency towards cakey and are harder to put on smoothly (MUFE Mat Velvet +, I'm looking at you).
I have used various drugstore foundations (true match, neutrogena, etc) and not had good luck. Those all tended to get really patchy and cakey looking...and didn't last. So I went up a notch and went to Sephora. Tried the aforementioned Stila. Not enough coverage and does not last. Although I'll give it some credit for not drying me out horribly. Now I am using the aforementioned MUFE Mat Velvet +. The coverage is good, I don't usually even need to spot touch with concealer. But it does tend to look a bit cakey around my nose and crease after awhile. I will say that it lasts decently, better than the Stila. But sometimes it just looks so heavy. One day I swear I looked way older than normal...all because of the makeup x.x Both come off on things, like my clothes - especially on hoodied sweatshirts or things with collars. Or just if I happen to touch my face sometimes (and on other ppl's clothes >.< ).
I would love to hear opinions on the MUFE Mat Velvet +, if any of you use or have used it. Or a recommendation for something with similar coverage but one that...well moves with my face better and less mask like after so many hours. Or even tips on using it. Since I really should finish this bottle at least. I apply it with my fingers (clean of course) because I tried both a sponge and a brush and it went on worse than with fingers.
My face also gets oily, especially the forehead/nose no matter what makeup I use - so at this point I think I've stopped caring about that part. I've been eyeing Sephora again and am curious about the
DiorSkin Forever Extreme Wear Flawless Makeup. Opinions? Anyone have experience with it (or can compare it to the MUFE)?
A last sidenote, I am currently living in Shanghai, China until probably this time next year. Some things will not exist here (I've seen brands I've never heard of too). But, there ARE Sephoras here, so rec's from there are good as the chance of finding said makeup is higher.
Thanks a bunch in advance, I know the foundation questions probably get redundant after awhile.
...and because I'm a dork, what suggestions for eyeshadow or eyeliner do you suggest for green eyes. If it helps, fair skinned - mostly neutral rather than particularly warm or cool, and I've got honey-brown hair (eyebrows are darker brown) though its dyed a dark auburn/red at the moment. XD
Okay, I shall stop rambling now.
