Stop It, Gods!

May 22, 2006 18:13

In January we lost Cynthia McQuillan, arguably the finest filker who ever lived. In March we lost Steve Henderson, a wonderful and funny man who wrote glorious song parodies ("Songs To Kill Your Enemies By"), who loved epic poetry and song, and who was one of the finest human beings to walk the planet. Now in May we have lost Leigh Ann Hussey, a woman with a bardic gift so strong that songs and poetry poured from her like wine from an endless cask -- except that now the spigot is shut off.

OK, gods, that's three -- now STOP IT! ENOUGH! We need our poets in this time of foolish, endless wars and corrupt governments. We need them to lift our hearts, strenghten our resolve, and tickle our funnybones so we can laugh when we feel like crying instead. We DO NOT need to lose them to (respectively) kidney failure, cerebral hemorrhage, and a motorcycle accident. And if you had to have these three back, SEND US SOME MORE, DAMMIT!

End Of Rant

In other news, I am getting on an airplane tomorrow and flying off to wonderful Madison, WI, home of firehair28. We are going to hit the road, visit assorted friends, and generally see how much trouble we can get into in 10 days. Woo Hoo!

And our horror movie, "Valley of Fear", wrapped principal photography last week. Now it is being edited, after which Broceliande http://www.broceliande.org/ will do the score. It should be available sometime in August, we hope. The producers are shopping it to the film festivals. If you want to see the trailer, go here: http://www.sierratel.com/iisaw/temp/VOFtrailer2.mpg

Off to pack....wheeee!
