Once again, it's been ages....that's basically my beginning line for most of my posts this year!

School is FINALLY over for the semester. Had my final at the med school this morning. So, H and I are working on a project with a group at UVA. It involves computer simulations...not something we are too thrilled about, but we have other benefits from this collaboration. However, it requires us to right a bunch of code to see how the tension and stresses change in the artery wall with monocyte infiltration...blah! BUT, they will be sending us "old" mice vessels with atherosclerosis. These mice would cost us <$1000 if we had to purchase and keep them ourselves, but since they are extras, they are giving them to us for free. (ok, well we have to do the computer simulation stuff, so that is payment enough)

I'll be taking a virtual instrumentation class this summer...and doing research. I'll be learning the fine art of mouse surgery, aorta removal, cannulation, and pressure-diameter testing. Which will take 3-6 months. During this time H will be learing Histology, immunohistochemistry, and some other microscope imaging techniques.

Tomorrow Joe and I are driving to Lincoln. Well, actually we will get to Wichita tomorrow night, go to Fort Riley to visit some of his friends on Saturday and then up to Lincoln Saturday night. I am going to take a ton of pictures (i hope) of our trip...totally going to make Joe nuts, but it's all good.

Next weekend, we will go to Omaha to celebrate 1 year! Wow, I can't believe its been a year already, how quickly time flies!! The first year of marriage and the first year of grad school are over.
