I've really hurt Beth Gale by not participating in her class. She seemed pretty distressed about it during my FA meeting. I can't believe it has affected her so much. What a sweet lady to be so concerned. This may be a little egotistical (just like livejournal, ho ho), but i think she may have enlisted some other students in the class to encourage me to talk. She tries really hard to put students at ease and create a comfortable atmosphere, but my lack of involvement is my fault alone. I hate to think that she feels she has failed because I have. She has said in exaggeration that she loves her students like her own children and has jokingly refered to herself as a mother figure, but despite the sarcasm i think she feels that way. It would be hard to spend your life teaching and have no husband or children without getting involved with your students. I appreciate her more than any other professor here and I hate that I have let her down.
