Yes...Now that BATMAN BEGINS has hit the theatres and was the masterpiece that I knew it would be, it's time to talk sequels.
FIRST of all, what are they gonna call it? I think the next one should be BATMAN CONTINUES followed by BATMAN'S STILL GOING, BATMAN WON'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER, BATMAN DOESN'T KNOW WHEN TO QUIT, and BATMAN RE-THINKS HIS CAREER CHOICES perhaps followed by BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS.
Anwyway, yeah...Joker casting. I've heard everything from Crispin Glover (my first choice) to Paul Bettany (I can see it) to Sean Penn (umm...Huh?) to some guy named Lachy Hulme (who I've never heard of but, apparently, he was in one of the MATRIX sequels but, since I've blocked those out of my mind, I can't seem to recall him). Now word has come around that Vincet Cassel, a french actor who was in, most recently, OCEAN'S TWELVE and starred in BLUEBERRY (based on the Moebius comics...released here on DVD as RENEGADE). I found a picture of him and played around in Photoshop and got this:
WOW! Without changing his facial features at all, he looks dead-on perfect. Almost exactly like in THE KILLING JOKE. He's now my personal choice for the role. He looks the part and he's a really good actor (he's great in BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF and DOBERMANN, which is a great flick).
