Todd Rundgren didn't make it to SIGGRAPH. So instead of meeting the guy who made Flowfazer, I ended up meeting the guy who made Electric Sheep. Not as cool, and not a particularly good speaker.
I also got to see the
Reactable in concert and talk with one of its inventors, and this morning I met the
guy who did the 3D point scans for that Radiohead
video last year.
A few disappointments about what will and will not be on various documentations of the conference... They're going to release DVD-ROMs with some of the lectures, talks, etc, but not ALL of them. (That's OK, I'll save money buy not buying them all. It looks like individual lectures will be available for download for about 10 bucks a pop, or courses for 20. Better to piecemeal than spend $275 on the whole package.) And likewise, the DVD reels from the computer animation screenings don't include all the videos. A handful I would have liked to buy didn't have all their rights clearances or for other reasons chose not to be included. *shrug*
Conference ends tomorrow, then we drive back to Houston and I'll have work Saturday... will be tough to jump back into the "real world".
