How is a library mad loud? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a library? :D
Gas went down a whole four cents here. Yay for Governor Codey. ::sarcasm:: Now it's only $3.15 a gallon. I'm sure it'll stay that way for as long as possible until it's ok for them to jack up the prices again. That's the way gas stations around here seem to work.
I'm beginning to feel a little numb over Katrina too. I keep focusing on the casinos in Biloxi for some odd reason.
Glad you're feeling a bit better. Just heard some cool retro New Wave on the Music Choice channel to dedicate to you--PIL, Joe Jackson, and Bonnie Hayes.
You have not been introduced to the joys of the psuedo 'hood library, have you? Then you would understand. :)
Crap. I can't complain about gas, then. Still....it's crazy! It used to take $20 bucks to top off my Mom's car. I spent $25 and the car was only a quarter full to start with. My dad spent 45 bucks last week to fill up (his car is slightly larger than hers). It's just INSANE.
I actually went to a couple of those casinos in Biloxi (Beau Rivage and Imperial Palace) and Gulfport (Isle of Capri), so that's weird to me to not see them there. Just weird in general, I suppose.
Wow- PiL! Not a Johnny Rotten fan, but I like the group, and will always have time for Joe Jackson. Bonnie Hayes reminds me of 'Valley Girl'. :)
That's because her song was on the "Valley Girl" soundtrack. I remember reading that later on she wrote some songs for Bonnie Raitt.
From what I read, the IP suffered the least damage, they should be ready to go by about January or so. The others...just...weird. At least three of them are done (though one, the President, was going to close next month anyway.). The freakiest was the Hard Rock--the place wasn't even open yet--it was supposed to this week--and it's already destroyed.
At least most of the casinos are taking care of their employees (or so they say anyway).
Pseudo 'hood library? As in stupid white kids worshipping 50 Cent?
Wow, that's cool. I didn't know that about her. I loved her song in that movie...or songs actually. :)
I bet it's because the IP isn't right on the coast, it's a little inland. Away from the others, which is why that happened I am sure. I wonder if Beau Rivage was one of them....Isle of Capri is prolly gone too. Those places made so much money and provided so many jobs it's wild.
RE the library- it means that Hispanic and Black kids are trying to be hard, but it's kinda hard to do when Mom picks you in a nice new Toyota SUV. LOL
It's always nice to read about a responsible parent. :)
A couple of corrections to my previous list...
The Good: I believe Harrah's is going to rebuild the Grand Biloxi, and Casino Magic is going to be back as well. No timetables on either, as far as I know...their focus right now is to take care of their employees.
The Bad: You can probably forget about ever going to Treasure Bay again. They had no insurance and from what I read, no form of recourse of paying their employees either.
So the scorecard is...ten working on coming back (depending on whether MS gets their act together on whether to allow land-based casinos), three gone bye-bye.
They were talking about "The Third Man" on TV the other day, and now I really want to see it - they said that Welles is only in it for a few minutes but completely runs away with the movie!
I can sympathise on the fuel issue - it's been getting expensive here for some time, but now it's absolutely extortionate - probably even more than you're paying. Ack!
I hope your stomach gets better, I have tummy trouble too and find that peppermint tea or peppermint oil capsules help a bit.
He was in it for about 10 minutes total, but it was like you always felt him there. That's quality filmmaking right there.
We're still lower than some places, but not by much. And we have the president's brother in charge, which probably why it hasn't gotten any worse.
Thanks for the tip on the tea. I think most of my stomach issues stem from stress (I internalize a lot), as stomach problems don't run in my family tree. I will keep the peppermint tea in mind next time I have trouble.
