Anyone know of a good online tool to build a web-accessible catalog of my home media (books, CDs, DVDs, etc.)? I'd love to be able to look up what I have when I'm not home so I can share with friends, etc. Mac compatibility a plus if there's a client, but web-based solutions should wash most of that out (unless there's, dare I hope, an iPhone

I saw an article for Readerware a few weeks ago.
You would catalog your physical media collection, export the contents to HTML and then you upload those files to a website.
It's a little pricey, but there's a demo available so you can try it to see if you like it.

Here's a discount if you decide you like it...

FYI... I use Delicious Library and just sent a feature request for HTML export.
I received a response back from one of the developers and was told... "We're adding one-click web publishing into version two, so it will publish right to the web. =)".
I am hoping that version two will be in the MacHeist II bundle that will be released next week.

If you complete the heists by finding the 4 digit vault code you get some free software and a coupon for a couple of dollars off the cost of the bundle.
Anyone can buy the bundle whether or not they completed any of the heists.

Mission 3 can be completed now, but don't wait too long, they usually close them soon after the next mission starts.
(If you get stuck a walkthrough is available in The Backroom forum)
Mission 4 will probably start sometime this weekend.
The software you get for completing the heists is usually pretty basic, some I use, some I don't.
The bundle software is good stuff though.

I saw another app that might help you out with your goal of putting your media library online. It's called Bento and it's by the same folks that make Filemaker. At $49 the price isn't too bad and it looks like it will handle alot more than just media. There's even a demo available, so you can try it out before you drop the cash on it.

My next try may be a free web app I found via the iPhone web apps section on Apple's site. It's in beta, pretty straightforward, and has an iPhone interface. The risk exists of the developer closing up shop one day with my data, but it's nothing mission critical.
Maybe this week's Stevenote will have the solution to all my problems…

I may try it out when I get an iPhone.
I'm waiting until the 3G version comes out this summer.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow's Steve-note.
My dream machine would be a combo Mac Mini/Apple TV with a Blu-ray drive and a TV tuner.
I'd like to replace my TiVo and make the move to Hi Def.
I doubt it will happen, but one can wish...
