We had a bit of an emergency yesterday and thank Goddess it wasn't on my watch! I had just finished watching my ex dog and my ex gf's house last week. I guess he ate two cigarettes sometime during the night and woke her up crying. She found him standing in the closet carrying on, and took him back to bed with her. The missing smokes weren't discovered until morning.
She called me on her way to work, the first week at her new job, and told me what happened. She asked what my opinions were on him needing to go to the vet and if I could stop by and check on him. I told her that I was pretty certain that tobacco was toxic to dogs and caused neurological problems, and elevated heart rate. I told her that I would research it and call her back. My research confirmed that he needed to go to the vet.
$450 later and and entire day at the vet with a catheter, IV, heart monitor and valium he was released with no apparent lasting damage. He goes back again tonight to have his kidney function retested. The little guy's heart rate was 200 and is only supposed to be about 120 and that is even while freaking out at the vet's office. So they brought that down with the valium and tried to bring up his blood pressure and tested his kidneys. My ex wonders if he might have brain damage because she thinks he is still acting weird... kind of twitchy and clumsy. I will have to check that out myself, but will keep you all appraised of his situation.
Friday I am going to get scoped and more of that lovely drug that makes me super smart. I am looking forward to having the day off even if it involves a medical procedure.
My Sister is in Mexico doing Catholic shit for the poor people this week so I have the house to myself. I like to tell people, in front of my Sister, that she is a mercenary. She has never corrected me, just went on to explain to whomever I have said this in front of the details of the trip and how it is related to the church. Generally I say it in front of people that will get my word play and we suffer through her explanation while trying not to laugh that she doesn't see the difference between that and missionary. The first 50-60 times I did this it was uproariously funny, she has been going for the last 6 years , and now I just find it kind of sad.
