light a torch

For the third week in a row I’ve watched Torchwood and for the third week in a row I’ve been crying by the end.

It’s not a very good show. It’s mildly intriguing in the way that many of those low budget sci-fi television shows tend to me. You can never quite tell if the camp factor is on purpose or just from bad writing. And that they could be so much better if the creative talent levels were just a bit higher, because an interesting base is there.

But anyway, somehow they manage to have something really touching and usually really depressing by the end. It’s sort of like when I watch Cold Case. Are there any episodes of those show that don’t end on a totally dour note?

Also, I do love how queer it is. Possibly more so than any other show I’ve seen on Western television aside from actually ‘gay’ tv. It does it in such a cool way, with random male kisses and way more hugs and physical intimacy than television usually allows.

Also, I watched like five minutes of Britney: For the Record and my god, that girl is depressed. It’s so distressing to watch. She’s clearly so hurt. I was never much of a fan, but seeing anyone that miserable? It’s more like watching someone talk on Intervention or something. How very, very sad.
