Three guys entered a bar. Which one? It doesn't matter. They looked like any other guys that frequented that bar, except that they weren't there to drown their sorrow or just have a friendly drink. No. They were there on a mission. What mission? To... kill someone, and that someone being the owner of the bar.

The three went to the bar and one of them asked the bartender where they could find the owner. The bartender raised an eyebrow at them as he was polishing one of the glasses - the night was pretty slow, as there weren't many people - and asked the leader why they wanted to see the owner.

“Look kid.” he leaned over the bar. “I have business with your boss and not with you, got it?” the long-haired guy let out in a flat, bored tone, but also with a menacing sparkle in his eyes. “Get us some drinks while you're at it.” He then left the bar after the bartender showed him where the office was. The young man looked at them as they passed by, noticing that they all had a bored aura around them, but one that might mislead people. However, he also noticed the way one of them was walking. Such a confident and alluring walk... He soon snapped out of his trance and prepared some glasses of vodka - the guy seemed the type to drink vodka - and some whiskey for his boss. He put them on a tray and made his way to the office.

Inside the office

“Hello there, Kanda-san.”

“What do you guys want from me? I don't remember asking for your help or something.”

“Oh, we're not here to help you.” One of the guys, called Yokoyama answered him, a smirk placing itself on his face. “We were sent to kill you because of what you have done.” he smiled and sat down in the armchair in front of the desk. He then started scolding the guy for what he had done, the older guy looking at them in amazement, shock and fear. Yokoyama sat up and asked the one with long hair - Subaru - to take his gun out and kill him fast. He never liked seeing people suffer, so that's why he told told Subaru to tag along. If he had asked the third one - Ryo - the guy would have suffered. A lot. He then left the office and let the guys do their job.

“Come on, Subaru... let me do it. I won't make a mess. I swear!” he fidgeted, but stopped as soon as the other threw him one of his famous cold glances. “Ok, ok. I'm backing off now.” he let out and approached the door. His back was facing the other two when the other armed his gun and shot the owner. It wasn't loud, since Subaru preferred using a gun silencer.

Ryo opened the door and told Subaru to go first so he can check if there was any evidence of them being there. But he found none. As he exited the room, he flung the door open and heard a soft 'ouch' and the sound of glasses tinkling. He then closed the door and looked at whoever it was that dared to be there and be in his way. But he froze on his spot seeing the same man he thought Subaru was going to kill only by looking at him: the bartender. Ryo looked at the said guy and noticed his quite feminine look, which seemed not necessarily in disharmony with his body, but... on the contrary. He studied the guy and also noticed the slight fear in his eyes. Ryo's eyes laid on the tray he was holding - miraculously still intact - , took one step towards him and gripped one of the vodka glasses, bringing it to his lips. With his eyes still set on the guy, he gulped all the alcohol down his throat and threw the glass on the floor, breaking it. He then took a few more steps towards the guy, threw the tray out of his hands and pinned him to the wall, in the same time crashing his lips against the other's plumped ones. It was a short, but hot kiss and to Ryo's surprise, the other didn't even struggle to get away from him. However, as much as Ryo liked it, he had to stop it, since he was still on duty.

“You saw nothing of what happened here.”

“I-I saw nothing...”

“And you'll get the hell away from this place.” he whispered against the other's lips, still panting from the kiss. He saw the other nod and gulp, still sensing a bit of fear from him. “You won't go in the office and you'll forget we were even here.” He let out and when he saw the other trying to say something, he silenced him with another powerful kiss before hurrying off.

Tatsuya was still in shock and slid down the wall and onto the ground, touching his lips.

“Why did he...” he let out to himself and got up, wanting to run after him and demand an explanation. But he was too late as the three guys seemed to have disappeared into thin air.

A few weeks later

Tatsuya found himself a new job as a bartender at another place and in another part of Tokyo, with the hope that what had happened with his former boss wouldn't happen to his actual one. This time it was a glamorous club with a lot of silver, red and all sorts of sparkle. It wasn't necessarily what he wanted, but the pay was good, plus he got pretty generous tips from the hottest women there. Quite a lot of them tried hitting on him, but he'd refuse them in such a way that they wouldn't feel offended. Why did he do that? Because he was still under the influence of that damn kiss from that damn killer. Thinking those words, he started panicking a bit, but fortunately he didn't have time to think about it anymore, since he had to prepare some drinks.

A few minutes later, he saw a few guys approaching the bar and a shiver crawled down his spine at their sight.

“Ano... excuse me.” a pretty childish guy asked him.

“Yes?”

“Could you tell me where your boss' office is? I have an appointment with him and...”

Tatsuya told the guy and after he left, he looked at the other two guys following him. His eyes widened in shock and his face turned white when he realized who those guys were. He left the orders to his colleague and followed them through the crowd. But when he got there, the guys were already exiting the office. He ran towards them, grabbed Ryo by his shoulders and pushed him to the wall hard.

“What the fuck did you do again?” He let out, his breath ragged and his face all red. “Tell me!” he shook him and when his head accidentally hit the wall, the other two grabbed him by his arms and pulled him off Ryo.

“It's ok guys. I can take care of him.”

“Ok then. We'll wait outside.” the curly-haired guy replied as they let go of Tatsuya and walked away.

Tatsuya was still under his sudden adrenaline rush and was breathing heavily as he glared at the other. Just when he was about to say something, Ryo gripped his arm and pulled him somewhere they could be alone and pushed him to the wall.

“Look, I already told you to forget what you saw there.”

“How can I forget?” he yelled. “What you did was... was...” he was starting to calm down a bit. “It was...” He couldn't finish his words as he felt Ryo's lips against his once again. Tatsuya once again lost himself in the kiss, which lasted longer than the first. But he suddenly broke it. “Stop it. Why are you doing this to me?” he asked looking directly into Ryo's eyes. What he saw there was... loneliness?

“I'm not doing anything to you. It's not my fault you're in the place where our job is.”

“Job? You call killing people a job?” Ryo just shrugged and turned to leave. “Wait!”

“What?” he asked annoyed.

“What's your name?”

“You don't need to know it.” he let out over his shoulder and walked away, leaving a still confused Tatsuya behind. As he left the building, Ryo couldn't help himself from thinking that he might be attracted to that feminine bartender. He tried to shake his thoughts away, but couldn't.

About a week later

Tatsuya was starting to rethink his job preference, seeing that in the past weeks he was employed twice and ended up jobless twice. And what bugged him more was that he knew the face of the guy who killed them, his touch, his... anyway, what he didn't know was his name and he wanted to know it. But he was well aware that he might never see the guy again and thought that if he accepted the job offer he had, things might not happen the same a third time. So before he knew it, he was working again, at a pub this time, and was even having fun. Things were quiet for a while and he actually felt relieved that things were like that. But one day, he saw some familiar guys entering the pub, but as the bar was pretty far away from the entrance, he couldn't see clearly who it was, plus there was a lot of smoke inside.

“Ano...” Tatsuya looked up from the drinks and was shocked to see one of those guys.

“No, I won't tell you where the boss' office is.” he let out sternly and returned to his task.

“Huh?”

“Look...” he leaned over the bar. “I know what you're up to, so no, I won't tell you where the boss' office is.” he let out and glared at the man.

“I'm afraid you're mistaken...” he looked at the bartender's name tag. “Tatsuya-kun. I just wanted to ask you for something to drink.”

Tatsuya was confused, to say the least. He took the guy's order, gave him the drinks and watched him disappear after the stone pillar into the VIP room. He frowned a bit, not knowing what to think about it, but shrugged the feeling off and returned to his duty.

Not long after that, another one of the group that entered came to the bar to ask for some more drinks. Tatsuya thought that something was a bit fishy, especially when his boss came and told him to give the guys in the VIP room a round on the house. But seeing that none from the group came to pick the drinks up, he let his colleague take care of stuff while he took the tray into the room. When he arrived, he knocked on the door and opened it, thinking that he should go in, leave the glasses and get out of there as fast as he could, a plan which almost succeeded if it weren't for... that guy, who was just staring at Tatsuya.

“Oi! Are you new here?” Ryo asked and Tatsuya only nodded, grabbing the tray and making his way out of there. But as soon as he was out, he felt a strong arm gripping his own and pushing him to the wall. “What are you doing here? Spying on us or something?”

“Why would I do that?” he frowned. “Especially since I'm trying to avoid you guys. You messed up my life.”

“Oh shut up, little princess. Why complain? You're pretty well paid here, so...”

“How did you know that?” his eyes widened.

“Because this place is owned by us.”

“Yeah, right.” he chuckled mockingly. “And I can see faeries.”

“Oh, can you?” he smirked and took the tray out of Tatsuya's hand, throwing it on the floor.

“Wh-what do you want from me? Haven't you done enough? Let me go!”

“No, kid. This is my territory, so I can do whatever the hell I please.” Ryo let out and leaned over the other. But Tatsuya surprised him with the strength he used to push him away. He then ran back at the bar, leaving Ryo all alone.

“That's not the way you do it, buddy.” one of the others let out as he stepped out of the room.

“What do you know about it, Ohkura?” he scowled.

“Ace, don't forget to use our code names in public.”

“I have to go.” he let out and left the pub.

As the days went by, Ryo - aka Ace - tried to get under Tatsuya's skin, but he wasn't making much progress. So when he had enough of the other ignoring him, he left the VIP room and went to the bar again.

“You still won't talk to me, hime?” he asked casually. He wasn't expecting the other to throw his wiping cloth in his face.

“Call me that again and I'll whip your pretty little ass.” He said under his breath as he faced Ryo, wanting only him to hear his words.

“Oh, so you're getting aggressive now. That kind of turns me on.”

“Get away from me, you perverted killer.” he narrowed his eyes and sent a cold death glare to the other.

“What did you call me?” Ryo seemed angry. He got up and pulled Tatsuya by the collar of his shirt, bringing him really close. “Outside. Now.” he pulled the slightly older man after him, through the back door and outside the pub, literally throwing him to the wall.

“Get your hands off me, midget!”

“That's it. I'm sick of you ignoring me or calling me names.” he let out as he turned Tatsuya to face the cold wall, pressing him against it.

“What are you trying to do?” Tatsuya was starting to be scared of the younger man, knowing that he had the power to kill with his bare hands. “Leave me alone!” he tried struggling, but it was in vain. As strong as he was, he couldn't oppose Ryo.

“I'm not going to hurt you, if that's what you're afraid of.” he said softly and with his fingers he traced an invisible line from his jaw down to his Adam's apple and around his neck. He slipped his other arm around his waist and abdomen, pulling him close. “Do you ever wonder why I even bother with you?”

“You don't bother with me... you just like to bother me.”

“Sharp-tongued. Just like me.” he chuckled. “I like you even more.”

“Wait. What? Like? What the hell are you talking about? I'm straight, I don't-” his words were rapidly muffled by Ryo's lips, which transformed the sounds into sweet vibrations. When Ryo noticed Tatsuya had calmed down, he turned him back to face him and deepened the kiss. At first, Tatsuya didn't reject him, but didn't accept him either. Seeing that, Ryo broke the kiss, gripped his wrist and dragged him along.

“Where are you taking me?” he tried escaping the grip, but Ryo held his wrist tight. He only let go when he pushed Tatsuya in the office. “What are we doing here? The boss should be-”

“I'm the owner of this place.” he let out and approached the older one, who took a step back. He was trying to avoid Ryo as he ran around the table. “Come, on now... I don't like playing 'cat and mouse'. Will you just stop for a second and listen to me?”

“Why should I? I'm quitting this place if you're the boss.” Tatsuya said as he moved to the door, grabbing the doorknob.

“Oh no you don't.” Ryo let out and pinned him to it. “You're not going anywhere.” Tatsuya was surprised to see the same sadness in his eyes when he was - again - turned around. They stared at each other for a few moments until he spoke up.

“If you're the boss, then...”

“Koyama is just the administrator. My puppet.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah.”

“Then...”

“No, I won't kill anyone here. I'm sick of it, anyway. Besides... we're supposed to be the good guys, so...” His words were almost whispered as he looked away. Ryo felt loneliness taking over him again as he let go of the other and walked to his armchair. But he was soon stopped by Tatsuya, who placed a hand on his shoulder and turned him around. “If you want to quit, I won't stop you. If that makes you happy and safe...” He raised his gaze and looked at the other, who placed his hand on Ryo's cheek, the latter leaning into the touch and closing his eyes.

“Even if I give you my resignation letter, you can tear it apart.”

“True. But you won't do it.”

“No, I won't.” he smiled softly.

“The name's Ace.” Ryo let out and pulled Tatsuya close. “Nishikido 'Ace' Ryo.”

“Ace sounds good. But I'll call you 'Ryo'.”

“Then I'll call you 'Tat-chan'.”

“How did you...”

“You don't want to know.” Ryo said and crashed his lips on Tatsuya's plump and soft ones. Ryo could feel some kind of warmth invading his whole body and soon whispered in Tatsuya's ear “Why don't we take our business somewhere else?” he let out as he nibbled on the other's earlobe.

“As long as it's not another bar and you don't get to kill the boss. Or me.”

“Funny.” he chuckled. “Let's go.” he let out and dragged Tatsuya after him to an... unknown destination.

In the following weeks, whenever Ace and the others returned from one of their missions to the pub, they'd be welcomed by a smiling Tat-chan holding a tray of drinks and leading them to the VIP room. And always after less than one hour, the other six guys would ask themselves where did the pub owner disappear to and just a few moments later they looked at each other and realized it. That's when they'd skip that subject and drink themselves to sleep. On the other hand, Ryo was awake, if not too awake and he was enjoying himself maybe a bit too much, with Tatsuya by his side... or more likely on him.

That's pretty much how they spent their days.
