Watching the snow gently falling, listening to Yoyo Ma on the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon soundtrack. Mesmerising.

I have heard Handlebars by Flobots a couple of times on Radio 1, but actually listened to it properly on my way home this evening. All of a sudden I get that this is incredibly important, it's a song with a message and Flobots who I have not heard of before are a group of people with a strong social message. The postman woke me up this morning and on my doorstep was a large padded envelope.  Inside said envelope is a whole sheaf of recorder music.  I have absolutely no idea where or who this is from.  The postmark is Stockton on Tees and I don't know anyone there, so I haven't got a clue who has sent it to me.  Anyway, it's a fabulous collection of ( Read more... )

I am now the proud owner of an ACME (no less) swannee whistle with which I am going to amuse and irritate my friends and play in the acoustic tent at Solfest.  Hurrah - looking forward to an acoustic slide whistle version of "The final countdown" by Europe.

Just discovered a new female singer songwriter called Bailey Tzuke. She's currently guesting on a track by the Freemasons called "Uninvited" see embedded YouTube vid below. The style of this track is nothing like her stuff which is far more acoustic, but I have to say I really like it.

Went to see a fantastic gig in Brampton tonight.  Ruth booked seven of us tickets to see The Wailin' Jennys a Canadian folk/country/roots band.
