i love that poem. i feel young again, like an elementary school kid, when i read that poem.

My 'moral tales' laoshi from last semester said "Oh, we love to teach kids poetry, even though they don't understand it for a while." There's a cute scene in one of my favorite Chinese movies where a very young girl (4 or 5) is practicing her writing on a Li Bai poem.

I looooove the poem reading voice a lot of my laoshis have had. Very sing-songy. It was (is) most pronounced in the poems they said they learned as children. ;)

I loved my wenyan class before, but now we're just taking it easy & reading poetry which I think it a breeze compared to the prose - but I thought the same thing in Latin. :) And so pretty! It's so hard to translate it into English though, we translate into baihua in class ...
