A/N: Double drabble.
Two days ago, Ianto had gone to London for a meeting with UNIT to discuss guidelines for inter-agency cooperation, leaving Jack with a stack of paperwork his lover had assured him would be done and ready for filing by the time he got back.
Now here he was, back at the Hub, and as far as he could tell, the stack of manila folders hadn’t been touched.
“You promised me you’d have all this finished by now,” he told Jack, indicating the pile. “Haven’t made much of a dent in it, have you?”
Jack’s shoulders slumped. “I know, I’m sorry. I thought you’d probably go straight home instead of stopping off here. I was hoping to have at least a bit done by the time you came in tomorrow morning.”
“Why do you always leave everything until the last minute?”
“I didn’t!” Jack protested. “Not intentionally. We’ve been a bit… busy.”
“Really.” Ianto raised a sceptical eyebrow.
“There was an invasion attempt. Valusians.” Jack tried to smile, but it came out more as a grimace. “Finally rounded the last one up a couple of hours ago. Tosh broke her ankle, Gwen’s concussed, I died. Twice. Haven’t had time for paperwork.”
