“Before anyone says anything,” Jack said, steering a giggling Ianto into the Hub from the underground garage, “This is not my fault!”
“Bubbles!” Ianto announced giddily, trying to wander off. “I like bubbles!” He turned glassy eyes on Jack, who was restraining him. “You’ve got ears!” He poked a finger in the nearest one. “Does the hole go all the way through?”
Jack grabbed Ianto’s wrist, extracting the probing finger. “What have I told you about poking your fingers in things?”
Ianto beamed at him. “DON’T!” he shouted at the top of his voice.
Owen wandered over, grinning. “Is Teaboy high?”
“As the proverbial kite.”
“Oooh, kites, where?” Ianto craned his neck backwards and would have fallen over if Jack hadn’t caught him.
“No kites, we’re indoors,” Jack said breathlessly, hauling him upright again.
“What happened?” Tosh seemed torn between amusement and concern.
“It was a Narcop,” Jack explained, hauling Ianto over to the sofa. “Think alien skunk, sprays anything that threatens it with a chemical intoxicant rather than scent. I’m immune, but Ianto…”
“How long before he comes down?” Owen asked.
“Don’t know how big a dose he got; could be hours.”
“Wheeee! Bubbles!”
Owen shrugged. “Least he’s happy.”
