“Stupid fucking thing!”
Startled by the unexpected cursing, Jack stopped dead halfway down the stairs. It wasn’t that nobody ever swore around the Hub; most days, every other sentence that came out of Owen’s mouth contained at least one expletive, and that was when he was in a good mood. Trouble was, that hadn’t been Owen’s voice.
While hardly a prude when it came to swearwords, Ianto generally tried to be more polite while at work. He could curse up a storm after a few beers in the pub, but considered such behaviour unsuited to the workplace.
“You useless piece of shit! Why won’t you fucking work?”
Jack started down the stairs again, taking them two and three at a time. If Ianto was reduced to using unprofessional language, then something must be seriously wrong. He broke into a run when he reached the bottom, heading in the direction of Ianto’s increasingly agitated cursing.
“Ianto! Are you alright?”
“Do I bloody well look alright?”
To be perfectly honest, he didn’t. Lying on the dirty floor was out of character for him.
“What happened?”
“The fucking antigravity trolley went berserk and decided to embrace gravity! Get the damned thing off me!”
