“I’m just going to nip out while things are quiet and pick up the drycleaning,” Ianto said, poking his head into Jack’s office. “Anything you want me to get while I’m out?”
Jack, already bored with ploughing his way through the backlog of paperwork that had accumulated while the Rift was going through one of its manic phases, perked up immediately. “Ooh, I’d love some of those gingerbread cookies from the bakery just across the street from the drycleaner. And could you pick up some more coloured paperclips? I gave all mine to that Dinavrian trader, in exchange for the universal adaptors Tosh wanted.”
“Right, gingerbread cookies and coloured paperclips. That it?”
“That’s all, but you’d better check with Tosh, see if she wants anything from the bakery.”
Ianto nodded and went to see Tosh. “I’m nipping to the bakery across from the drycleaner. Anything you want?”
“That’s the one that makes the cinnamon cookies, isn’t it? I’ll have some of those please.”
“I’d kill for a cherry Danish,” Gwen cut in. “And can you get some skimmed milk?”
“Macaroons,” Owen added. “The crispy ones. And I’ve run out of rat treats.”
Ianto sighed; so much for just nipping out.
