This happened a while back, but I sat on it for a bit. Still, it makes me roll my eyes a slight bit and I thought I'd share it with the group.
So, I've been applying at different one-on-one player forums, as I enjoy that sort of RP quite a lot. I'm very clear in all of my applications about certain things, namely that I will not do OCs unless I have gotten to know the other player well and trust them, and as such, wish to play in fandoms.
My exact words, for help were:
Fan Settings - Though if I grow to like you, I will branch out into OCs. However, I don't use them typically until I know someone better.
So a while ago, I get a message from someone who had seen one of my ads. They mention some things they're interested in, and so far so good. They then proceed to tell me, after I ask what fandoms they like and caught their attention on my application, that they don't play fandoms. They only play Original Characters.
I restate that I don't play OCs unless I know someone well, and am basically told that they are only interested in interaction between OCs. What? Um, I am sure I stated something... oh yeah, that I prefer Fan settings and will only do OCs if I "grow to like you," which means I have to know what kind of person/RPer you are.
The whole conversation was admittedly polite. The other person never said anything untoward, but I felt a tad bit annoyed that my remarks had obviously been skipped over.
