so much

In the past six days I have only been at home for one full day.

I've travelled nearly 3000 km.
...unpacked my suitcase twice.

...been interviewed for the two biggest newspapers in our province.

...been introduced as part of a delegation in our legislative assembly.

...met with government policy makers and politicians about improving accessibility to midwifery care.

...shaken hands and conversed with the Minister of Health and the Leader of the Opposition.

...smooched babies, listened to birth stories, and admired milky baby smiles.

...listened to a brilliant Ob/Gyn speak about normal birth and breech vaginal births

...shared food and laughter with good friends from two different provinces

...walked peaceful paths in the trees with my husband

...felt full of love and gratitude when my husband texted me to say "I'm so proud of you."

...waved at a moose standing on the side of the highway, silently thanking him for not being on the highway

...wished for a decent gas station and public bathroom between Saskatoon and home

...been present to witness the start of a political scandal, something that hasn't happened here in nearly 30 years

...been told by my teenage daughter that she has booked her road test for her driver's license

...admired the gap in Julia's smile from another lost tooth

...run of patience as I insist on Charlotte wearing her pull up at bedtime, despite her wailing "Me no neeeeeed pamper!"

And so much more.

My heart and mind are full, I'm feeling inspired and drained at the same time.  I'm so grateful to all the women, midwives, students, and consumers who have pulled together to show their support for midwifery care in our province.    I have much to process, but tonight I will rest my mind and body.    I.am.done.
