Spring in Saskatchewan = Winter

I'm never surprised when it snows in April.  Annoyed, yes, but never surprised.

The howling wind woke me at 3 a.m. and when I got up to go to work this morning, my van was covered in snow and surrounded in snow drifts.  The winds were crazy, 70-100 km per hour!  That kind of wind blowing around the snow made for a bit of a tense drive to work.  The winds picked up and we were nearly blown off our feet when we went outside to pump gas.  We didn't have many customers, a few came for cigarettes and a few for gas.

One of the covers on a pillar at the gas pumps blew off and flew across the parking lot like a scene from "Twister".  Our assistant manager flew out of the store to catch it and it took two of us to get it into the store.  It had very sharp metal edges and once that blew off, I was a bit scared to go outside and pump gas.   Because it was so slow, my boss finally decided to send one of us home, so I left.

There was zero visibility, seriously,  I couldn't see the road at all.  The only thing I could see was the top of the street lights so I followed them at a crawl until I got home.  I've never driven in such terrible weather.

Once it stopped snowing and the winds settled down enough to make it safe to be outside, Jack went out and shovelled the wet, heavy snow.  It was only about -2, but closer to -15 with the wind chill.

Our backyard.  Charlotte's "wee" is snowed in.

As we drove around town I took pictures of the snow drifts.  This one was cleared away already but you can see how far up the fence it was.

The alley beside the park I had Julia and Charlotte two weeks ago.  Those are six foot fences BTW.

And Charlotte's tricycle is buried in the front yard.

And this TRUCK is buried in the driveway, just a few blocks away.

Gotta love Spring Winter on the prairies :-/
