enjoying Sprummer

June 1st hit me hard this year for some reason.  I was at a birth that day and I actually caught myself start to write "2006" when I was writing the date on the charts.  It's the month of Abby's 7th birthday and Angelversary.  So unbelievable that its been that long!  I'll be baking a cake next Sunday and lighting seven candles.

This weekend Charlotte reminded me, "Mom, we NEED to think about my birthday!"  We've been talking about her birthday for weeks already and she is adamant that she wants to decorate her own cupcakes for the party and have hot dogs so.... done!  No fancy schmancy theme this year, nope.

I'm so glad that Sprummer has arrived.  On Friday, two of my colleagues and I walked through the huge park adjoining the hospital and had coffee and scones at an art gallery on the riverbank.  It's a huge contrast to the weather we had during my winter clerkship!

I've had to make several home visits this weekend to a client in the north end of the city and I followed a riverside drive along the way, enjoying the canopy of old trees and the constant stream of people riding bikes, running with their dogs and strolling hand in hand along the riverside trail.  I'm looking forward to checking out the extensive trails myself!

Jack, the Littles and I went to the 25th annual children's festival today, hosted at park on the riverbank.  We didn't buy tickets for any of the actual shows and just enjoyed free activities like planting sunflower seeds to grow, storytelling, hula hooping, adding wishes to the wish garden, chasing bubbles from the bubble machine, and checking out the other tents and activities.  The girls had a great time; it's just a shame that we didn't have more time to check everything out as they had to go home for school tomorrow while the festival continues.

House hunting has proven successful and we're waiting to dot i's and cross t's before fully celebrating the purchase of our new home!   It's a big leap of faith but we're excited to have a home of our own here in the city.

summer, abby's birthday, moving, spring, little fish in a big pond, charlotte's birthday, grief, children's festival
