To-day

Oct 11, 2012 23:14

An early morning departure to school, still dark out and c-c-cold.

Green tea and a starbucks apple fritter (yummmmm) while I read through Pharmacology stuff before class.

A full day of Pharmacology information from one of my favorite instructors/midwives in the program.  She prefaced her presentation with, "I have a PhD in Pharmacology."  So I replied, "Great.  Could you dumb it down for us a little?  Or a lot?"  LOL!  She has a good sense of humour.

After class, I went to the director's office and boldly asked if we could possibly have an extension on our research paper that would be due in 3 days.  "Sure.  Absolutely." she said.  She's very realistic and understanding about the pressures involved with this program, and especially these 2-3 weeks where it's 'crunch time' so she didn't hesitate to agree and she got up immediately to walk back to the classroom with me to tell everyone else that she'd give us an extra week to do our paper.  Several of the ESL students jumped up and hugged me, they were so relieved to have more time to prepare their reserach paper, and subsequently have more time to study for Pharmacology over the weekend!  In addition to the regular program content, the ESL students must also do an ESL module that involves a lot of extra work for them.  I'm glad I asked for an extension and as I sat in her office and teetered on the edge of my seat (and my sanity!) I worried that I'd actually fall apart and cry if she said no.  So, whew.

I booked my plane ticket to come home again - just 12 sleeps and I'll be home for a week!  I've already arranged to do my final observational placement in the Saskatoon practice and then get my hair cut, FINALLY!

With a fraction of the pressure off tonight, Megan and I ordered pizza and prepared for tomorrow's class - a module (and exam!) on the Canadian Healthcare System (structure and history), as well as a module on empathy in counselling.  Tonight, I watched some Mike & Molly, then some BBT online, chatted with all 3 of my girls on Skype.  Julia and Charlotte were wearing the Ryerson t-shirts as pyjamas - too cute.

Kim is home for a few days while Jack is working.  She went for an appointment in the city today and took her sisters with her, then took them to Hellmart to shop for some necessities like winter coats, cat food, and such.  Such a trooper to step in and help out with her sisters - makes me proud, it does :-)

Now for some time with my current Kindle book, and then sleeeeep.

under pressure, there's no place like home, impp, kim
