First big rain today (last night), enuf for a couple accidents on the freeway on the way to work. That, along with getting over a nasty cold, is making me feel slightly melancholy.
I had promised Nan that if she passed the CHSPE, I would get her a laptop. I made the mistake a couple weeks ago of telling her I ought to make her choose between a dog or a laptop for Xmas. She'd been whinging about wanting a "real dog", since we have a couple Chihuahua mix types. She looks at me and starts agonizing over which to choose. I thot what have I done... After three days of calling, texting, and IMming everyone she knew in the world (all but one of whom told her to pick the laptop), she picked the dog.
We surfed craigslist and pennysaver and asked around and finally found her perfect dog: a 3yr old husky named Ziggy. The owner had just had a baby and couldn't keep up with him. She's been taking him for "walks" where she straps on her skates and lets him pull her around the neighborhood at a gallop. He's a good boy, needs to be fixed and be taught some commands, but has manners and isn't anywhere near as aggressive as I feared he'd be. He's still learning his place in the haus, I'll be getting a crate as soon as possible, he's in the back room behind a baby gate till then.
