SatAM :: Sugar Locks
Many apologies to obabscribbler for taking so long. Life's being a hell and I have no idea if this drabble will do any good. I'm better off not letting these rot in my notebook though. So here we go:

Knuckles loved Bunnie's voice.
Certainly the Southern drawl was something new to him. But it had a certain charm and it was always warm and receiving, even when irritated or angry. Take the word "sugar", for example. When Sally said it, she made it settle like a cool river. Sonic treated it as a kernal of popcorn ready to jump. For Tails, it was the promise of excitement and something good to happen, like Rosie baking chocolate chip cookies. Rotor was into the intricacies and molecules, little mechanics, inside the little crystals can do. ("Oh, sugars! They can do neat stuff!") Antoine put sugar on a pedestal, praising it as an elite lord before slipping an implied squeak. Dulcy scooped up high hopes before crashing in a candy-like delirium. For Uncle Chuck, it was the sweetness of his lips that reminded him he still concious of his senses and still alive... no reason to quit.
"Aw Knux... is sumthin' the matter, sugah?"
Everyone discovered the stone walls of the echidna's heart. But the kindness of the rabbit's voice granted its bearer access to the secret garden within.
