So, I was chatting with my younger brother earlier, seeing if he was enjoying his 2 days off from school as mandated by the governor, and he mentioned that he was working on a project for his lit class. He has to write paragraph summaries of 21 Bible stories, as the Bible is now part of the reading curriculum in his class as a "literary tool." ( Read more... )

well as an english major and atheist, i'm all about the bible as literature concept, but i think it definitely should have been offered as an elective rather than as a core part of the curriculum. although this makes me feel content that i got out of there sooner rather than later. who is his teacher? please for the love of god do not say rosemary wren, either.

well the problem is that most of teh lit they read these days that parents dont demand they ban is riddled with biblical imagery and lets face it half the student body at lhs has no idea what imagery is in the bible whether they go to church or not. billy budd yo. amongst other things.
