Got up at 5 with change today to work out. Ran 2 miles at top speeds - a couple more days and I'll be running my old 14-minute 2-milers, like I used to in high school cross-country. Since, along with liver boo-boos, my blood test showed rather high blood sugar levels (94 mg/dl out of the healthy range of 65-99), I decided to try out sugar-free chocolate. My attempts to expand the morning/evening exercises past the 70 crunches haven't been going too well. But recent bouts of weightlifting, infrequent though they may be, seem to have had an effect on my recalcitrant upper body - push-ups don't kill me as much as they used to. The morning/evening zaryadka is starting to yield visible results - my belly has flattened. Also, when I started with thirty crunches, my abs were burning when I was done. Still not biting nails - yey! Up to fifty crunches and ten push-ups first thing in the morning and before bed. Not much, but still, it's a hundred more crunches and twenty more push-ups than none. If I can keep that up for a week, I'll make it sixty crunches, fifteen push-ups and ten thigh squats.

Gah! Slipped and bit off half a nail yesterday. Filed down the sad-looking remainder this morning (now the whole row look uneven) and punished myself with fifty crunches and five push-ups.

Had gone to the dentist's today to get my teeth cleaned and X-rayed. Got a bunch of surprisingly good news. The cleaning was barely necessary, even though the last time I was at the dentist's was, like, five years ago; I have no cavities; my wisdom teeth will not be causing any foreseeable problems necessitating any medical involvement whatsoever, ( Read more... )
