Tutorial: the making of 'LMPTM Movie Poster'

another one of the Movie Posters explained :)

also I'd like to pimp my offer to give you any icon psd-file I've ever created (as long as I still have it) in exchange of a 10$ donation to a charity organization of your choice :)
that's your chance to see the effects you always wondered about and I was too lazy to explain ;)

first I was going for a sketchy, old-fashioned look for the original cap (that is from Screencap Paradise).

I used auto-contrast (ctrl+alt+shift+L), auto-levels (ctrl+shift+L) and auto-colors (ctrl+shift+B) on the original cap.

then I lowered the saturation to -30
(Image - Adjustments - Hue/Saturation or just ctrl+U)

I duplicated this layer twice and set both on Blending Mode Screen, opacity 100%

I added another copy of the Background layer on top. After resetting the Foreground and Background colors to black&white, I used the Filter - Sketch - Photocopy on it with these settings: Detail 7, Darkness 8

and after I set this layer to Blending Mode Linear Burn, it looked like this...

I made a new document with a white background, and brushed some black on it like this...
(brush tip: Spatter 14pt, and I used the sharpening filter A LOT!)

I added the prepared original cap, resized it, sharpened it, and made a layer mask to erase some parts of the background to make the shape scattered like our background (same brush tip, same technique...)

adding text: Adobe Caslon, 16/12 pt, Small Caps

adding text: Adobe Caslon, 8 pt, Small Caps

on top of all I added a color layer (#FFFAEB) on Multiply mode

the usual resizing, sharpening, and fading... and tadaaah, finished.

as always feedback is more than welcome :)
