just in case anyone is still reading this, I am going to write a quick update.
Life is good.
I was promoted at my job a few months back, and have a new manager as well.
I am making decent money, and generally don't mind my job, though I am always looking for something in my academic field.
Jeff and I are doing fine- we've got a nice every-other-weekend schedule down, and are going on a 3 day trip to the Equinox resort in Vermont in two months, also going on vacation in August sometime- still not sure where, but California is so far a frontrunner.
Life has been a little confusing lately, and though I don't want to get into it fully here, it's lead to some interesting situations that leave me even more confused afterwards.
Let's just say one is never enough but sometimes two is too many.
My mom is very ill, and is going to be moving close to my dad and I within the next few months, most likely. She is not going to be able to work much longer and will likely have to go on disability sometime in the next year or two.
Her disease is potentially terminal, and it's really a matter of when versus if. So it goes , I guess.
We've never had a great relationship but it's very upsetting to see her losing weight, feeling like crap half the time, and unable to do things like walking up stairs without having to catch her breath. The next few years will be very hard.
In other news, my brother has just gotten engaged to his girlfriend , and they are getting married in June of 2011.
I am going to be a bridesmaid- the second time, as this is my brother's second marriage.
It's going to be a huuuuge to-do, because it is his fiancee's first marriage and she is very much a girly-girl.
I will likely have a niece or nephew in a few years. She actually has a 3 year old girl, who will likely end up being akin to a niece to me. I'm actually looking forward to getting to be an auntie. Since I do not plan on having kids myself, it'll be fun to be able to take my brother's kids out for activities, and then ship them off back home. Hahahah!
Anyways---- if you are interested in following my mundane existence, please friend me on facebook at Sara Bernardo. Write me a message when you do so letting me know you are an LJ reader.
