One of the problems with moving from one country to another is that computer vendors get horribly confused about warranties. If they had just told me straight out that they wouldn't honor the warranty, I'd be okay. Marah and I came to the conclusion that we wanted more portable computers for the trip to Japan, and we wanted time to set them up, when we would not be distracted with other things. I don't know what was going on with this thing before. I ripped old versions of Norton out, which took hours. But now that I've installed Norton 360, Firefox works correctly, and everything is working faster. Yay.

So one of the critical updates installed disabled the wireless connection. I pull up the "View Wireless Connections" window and it says it doesn't work; I have to start the "Wireless Zero Configuration Service". It helpfully gives me a URL to explain how to start this service. Note that I only have a wireless connection in the apartment, so I can't ( Read more... )
