Poor teachers not at school today because they are evacuating their homes! Poor students who had their midterms canceled because of stress and under-attendance. Poor me, who had my midterm retake all scheduled and confirmed, present and accounted for, an hour before the test, only to have my proctor leave to go evacuate her home in Chula Vista. Unfortunately, the Potrero area is on fire. The area between Ramona and the ranch is on fire as well. For the moment the winds are pushing the fire west and south, away from the ranch, and for them I am hopeful that it doesn't change. For those of you who don't have ebenbrooks friended, I should report that we had a barbecue this weekend. The food was great, the company was admirable, and the damage to the house will take a few weeks to mend. We cooked pork chops, chicken thighs, carne asada, and the rear wall.
