My art of watching Jackie Chan movies:
- It usually takes me a few times.
- Because I usually watch them while drawing or doing something else rad.
- I have different Jackie wavelengths. Different "styles" in which I watch a Jackie film. I can only do one at a time upon initial viewings of the movie.
- - - Fight-scene style: appreciating the amazing stunt coreography
- - - China-style: appreciating whatever culture-riffic era or setting and social climate of china the movie is taking place in
- - - Story-style: picking apart all the subtle weirdness and strangely deep aspects of the film's involved yarn
So, based on this, to fully watch an entire Jackie Chan movie from every angle of it's awesomeness takes me a while. not to be dramatic, but tonight i finally finished watching Police Story 2. I've owned it for a while and have been a huge fan of both Police Story 1 and 3 (Supercop). i'd heard this one was the "weakest link" but you know what??? NO IT'S NOTTTT!!! it's pretty fucking great. it took me this long to finally get thru the finale, and it's a good'un. worthy and iconic of the legacy of Jackie Chan.
so if you've always been thinking abou it, but just haven't been sure it was the right time-- now is the time for you to go and check out POLICE STORY TWO STARRING, WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY MEISTRO JACKIE FUCKING CHAN.
let's also hear it for my man Bill Tung who is a fucking badass in his bluejeans in Police Story 1. how i yearn for an uncle like bill :[
regarding the "SELF": shambhala has taught me to view my disciplines not as punishment or hinderances... i don't think i honestly looked at my life in that view before. i was running solely on fun gas. now i'm trying to run on something deeper, so the fun gas gets more potent. i'm still learning that. i recieved a hearty discipline today for being so late with work. it's worth it. i feel motivated. i feel inspired, un-shackled by something vague and lame that was keepin' me down for the last year. i feel like i can listen to any music, rip the face off lava, or write a great script for my 2nd graphic novel.
HYECK HEYCK BITCH ASS TRIFLEZ
i need to extensively improve my collection of jackie chan movies.
JESUS H CHRIST I JUST THOUGHT OF WHAT MY JACKIE CHAN THEMED TATTOO SHOULD BE. MY AVATAR*. it is perfectly cartoony and is also from my favorite jackie chan movie, Project A. mmmm... something to think about, since i admire the guy so much, i really want to get something of his inked. and i don't really want like a photo of him or some shit. this is perfectly weird. only thing, i'd have to find a hi-res version of that drawing, which may be difficult. i may have to venture into the seedy underbelly of hardcore jackie chan cultists. maybe i can begin my quest at scarecrow video. or google image search.
