First up, mile splits:
Sun:
Mile #1: 9.02.80
Mile #2: 8.56.68
Mile #3: 8.56.44
Total: 26.55.92
Notes: I BROKE A 9 MIN/MI PACE, WHOO! Also it was dark as I finally forced my ass to get out and do it, so double props. Oh, and not to mention that on my last mile I not only almost twisted my ankle, but also had a bug fly into my eye and I still managed that pace. Great run.
Tues:
Mile #1: 9.35.30
Mile #2: 9.37.78
Mile #3: 9.19.20
Total: 28.33.20
Notes: Just over a 9 min/mi pace? Not bad; I'll take it. Pretty consistent as well, considering I always give a kick at the end.
Thurs:
Mile #1: 9.52.66
Mile #2: 9.48.65
Mile #3: 9.23.57
Total: 29.04.88
Notes: After my allergy shots I had to go shopping before I went home, and it turned out being at a couple of different places, so I was tired and super hungry, which had me postpone the run a bit. I was not feeling like a run, so I win for having had the determination to get out and do it. I wasn't going for anything fast; just proud that I did. Also good on me for maintaining about the same pace yet also getting slightly faster each mile. Wasn't expecting that, but cool.
Other good things that happened this week include Yankee Candle Co. calling me up to let me know that they got in another shipment of the Samplers votives of
Witches' Brew (which you'll also notice is sold out now ONLINE), and my remembering to pick up some 3-ring binders for the couple of students who told me they needed help acquiring them, which in turn led me to finding a new pair of glow-in-the-dark vampire teeth/fangs at my local Fred Meyer. (My old pair I've quite possibly had for two decades and they've been needing replacement badly for quite some time now, haha.)
As for the gym workouts, I ended up having late sessions both Wed and Fri, but I still did them! Wed night was the first night this week of being fiancée-less (she flew down to So.Cal. for a family wedding; no way I can get time off at this time of the year what with school having not even been back in for a month yet), and I was just feeling blah. Turns out it was one of grad school buddies' birthdays though, so he told me to come over. I brought him a birthday hat, which he liked. Also made sure not to stay too long so that I could get home and work out before bed. Made for a bit of a late night, and Thurs/Fri were a bit long due to being a tad behind on sleep, but a sugar-free Monster on Thurs morning helped.
Yesterday I was just tired from the first full week of school, but still managed to eventually force my butt to the gym and put in a good workout. Upped the weight on a coupla exercises; yay progress. Think I'll need to be switching a few of them up here soon, too, especially in order to do some back exercises as I've noticed it's begun to be a bit sore lately; I think it's cos I've been able to increase the weight on my triceps extensions - which is a good thing, but I also need to make sure to strengthen my back, too. Perhaps switch off the abs for back for a bit. It's crazy to think I've almost done 12 weeks worth of hitting the gym; go me! I may also try switching entirely over to Tom Venuto's TNB-28 (the workout he added in the revised addition of the original e-book) here soon. Thanks to being good about getting up in the morning religiously during the week and doing my Sun Salutes followed by reading, together with the down time I've had at the allergist's office, I'm close to completion of reading the revised version of Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle now. Excellent read, by the way. The most recent thing that made me go "Huh!" was learning that, if one's really pressed for time, weights take precedence to cardio due to their importance. Interesting. Also good to know as I really dislike running on treadmills, and I'll need to do something in place of my 3-mile runs once it's too dark by the time I get home. Good to know.
Anyhow, The GF gets back into Seattle tonight around 8PM, so I'll probably go brush teeth, etc., get laundry started, then play some more FF9 and/or read until around 4 when I'll go in to do lesson prep & materials making, since tomorrow we'll be heading to the fair. Yay!
Wishing all of you health, gratitude, and happy thoughts. Loving the weather change. ^_^
