Ayep, another blow out this weekend. Winds to thirty five mph out of the north west. No good for power flight and I'm still not healthy enough to slope fly the north side. Stupid half mile walk over broken ground is a bit more than I can handle right now. Ok its not so much the walk out therer but the walk back afterwards. Standing out in the winds and cold for hours is rough these days and the uphill walk back is not something I'm willing to atempt. I won't be carried up that hill again it's embarassing.
Still saturady at the field was nice. I got to do final set up and ground check on a model I built for a club mate. It took a bit of time and several growls at the peanut gallery to get them to quit "helping" and back off, but I did get it done and done right. So now George has a pretty new pattern ship to learn the FAI pattern properly. Yea. In return he bought me a new in box Habu airframe so I'll be covered when I finally kill my current one, and I will kill this one sooner than later, jets are so fast and fragile...
Hew also dumped two used planes on me to do their annual, er, total once over with repairs and proper set up details since the OP is known for half assed set ups, and I've already found several things that would turn a fun flight into a disaster. Loose bolts on the cabane struts, mangled hatch closers, and really strange control connections. stuff a real AP would never sign off on. For shame Mikie, you should know better.
Sunday was not my best morning ever. I woke up with the shivers and my stomache doing gymnastics and no end of respatory troubles. I had to stay within ten feet of the bathroom and kept bringing up lung crud all morning. but by afternoon I was feeling a bit better and got a few things done.
So Im going on a road trip soon and I've been looking for bits and pieces I'd like to have for the trip.
Some of them missing for quite a while now. Things like my nifty velvet cloak with the bronze dragon clasp. Been missing since Texas Charles left, not that I'm saying he took it, just that it disapeared at about the same time. Thge cxloak I don't so much care about but the clasp. That I do miss. It was made by the folks who did our wedding bands and they don't do that any more. now they do corsets so I can't replace that clasp. Bummer. I also can't find my travel DVD player with the two screens. A very nice thing to have on a road trip. I can strap the screens to the backs of car seats and let the kids watch movies while I drive or I can watch a flick while I'm resting after a long drive so I can get to sleep. But I can't find them anywhere. Then there are my little amplified I phone speakers, tiny litle drum shaped things with very big clear sound. can't find them anywhere, not any of them. I need a finder of lost things.
And the big one. The weekend of the twenty second I'm going to LA to the Western States Electric fly in. It's at Apollo eleven field in Van Nuys, a very fine model air park operated by the county parks department and home field of the Valley Flyers rc club. A great bunch of folks I've gotten to know quite well overf the psat few years. I've been the official priest there and done the opening benediction several times, really pisses off the nasty dominionist xian pilots who keep trying to take over the meet, and I've even done a nifty witchy type wedding for a very fine young couple at the field. So I'm excited to be going again this year.
On top of all this my old friend John has asked me to visit his home near by the field and help him build a few models. He's a S&M pornoggrapher by trade and it's fun to watch the shoots and see all the pretty people he uses for models, and I love the wagu steak dinner he likes to take me to when I'm there and I can't afford a meal like that on my own, ever. I just can't justify spending a coule hundred bux on a styeak no matter how good it is, and if he orders wine add another couple hundred bux to that. Crazy but good.
So I'm trying to prep the new bus for a camping road trip, soon, and trying to work out just hoe to build a bed and storage bits in what? three weeks or less. Damn. fun but busy...
