Fandom Snowflake Challenge #1

Jan 01, 2020 21:11

In your own space, introduce yourself! Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I don't talk too much about myself in public spaces - I could've flocked this, but then I wouldn't have been able to share it with other Snowflake participants, and that defeats the whole purpose! I will say that I am a woman in my thirties who lives in the US.

I've been involved in internet fandoms for almost 20 years now, although really, I've always been a very fannish person. I'm also a writer with a vivid imagination, which must play into it.

I decided to do a bit of a fannish twist on an intro, since this is a fannish challenge. Basically, I'm going to list a few books/shows and name characters I am most like. Behind a cut since I know fannish stuff isn't everyone's thing.

Harry Potter: Definitely a combination of Luna, Hermione and Remus. I have a lot of Luna's head-in-the-clouds tendencies, Hermione's desire to right wrongs - occasionally in the worst possible way, and Remus's desire to keep the peace, as well as his self-deprecation regarding certain issues (often to the discomfort of others).

Parks and Rec: I'm probably closest to Ben Wyatt. Super nerdy but not in an overt "obvious" way until you get to know me, and I can either be way too lenient or way too harsh under pressure.

Buffy: I'm not sure about myself as an adult or the characters as adults, but high school Willow was very much me in high school, minus the hacker stuff. Right down to the way season one Willow dressed. I actually had the same hairdo.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: I can be a bit like Paula when it comes to my family and friends. I've had to be reminded that boundaries are a thing before. I think that's as far as I would go, though.

Looking forward to seeing everyone else's responses, and hoping to meet some new people! Welcome!
