Slow Train to Wollongong

Sep 25, 2005 15:48

Finally on the train to Wollongong.  I suppose it's just like me to forget how muggy Sydney is.  The 'layers' of jumpers have been peeled off one by one, and my once almost empty travel bag has become heavy with extra books and discarded clothing.

The stations we trudge past have the old familiar look of 'suburban Sydney' that I remember from when I lived here.  Hard to believer 5 years have passed since I regularly rode "Sydney Rail".  This line of course I never travelled, and Wollongong I have never seen.  I don't really know what to expect.  I suspect I will feel quite lonely without my soul-mate to argue with ... :o)   Her week will fly by and I will spend nights on my own, wishing the week would go faster.  I recognise this is counter-productive, and often 'spoils' my opportunity to really 'soak-in' and enjoy the places that my work causes me to visit, but this is me... such a creature of habit.

Oh.... and Sydney won the AFL grand-final.... hard to be disappointed though.  Was such a close game.   They won by 4 points (less than a goal) in the end.
