My Favorite Christmas Tradition

Dec 20, 2011 10:05

If you've ever paid attention to my Facebook page, Twitter feed, or blog during the holiday season, this post will not be news to you. But I still make a point of posting about it every Christmas, because it is JUST SO WORTH IT.

Andrew Peterson, a brilliant singer/songwriter/author/dreamer who long ago earned his place at the top of my list of beloved favorites (among the likes of Tokien and Lewis, to name a few), wrote an amazing musical project that tells the entire redemptive history of Christ, from the first Passover to His incarnation, which is both musically excellent and theologically rich. The album (which really should be listened to in one sitting, start to finish only about 30-odd minutes) never fails to move me deeply and renew my awe and love for the majesty and mercy of God and His extraordinary intervention in human history to redeem and save a people for the glory of His name.

The album is well worth purchasing, but you can also stream the entire thing here. Because I really am intent on sharing this treasure with everyone who crosses my path, I'm also going to post some of the live performances from YouTube (though be aware that the quality is somewhat lacking).
