I've been wanting to see
INTO THE WILD for quite a long time. But, I confess that , while ultimately satisfying, Sean Penn's directorial efforts are a bit too challenging for my feeble noodle. Couple this
a 140 minute running time, it was a recipe for avoidance. And avoid it I did: I did dishes, took out the garbage, separated garbage. Yes, I worked to avoid an entertainment.
But I did finally sit down, cats cuddled, burgundy at hand. It was, indeed, a fine film. The real standout was the lovely, touching performance by Hal Holbrook. I nornally see Best Supporting Oscars as a sort of "life achievement" nod. But HH truly deserved it.
The wine was superb also and the felines were on their best behavior
