As many of you are aware, recently I and Rafe have been taking on a couple of BIG projects, stuff that could potentially be over our heads, but I really feel like I am succeeding and thriving with them. However, lately a lot of people are contacting us and grilling us on what we're doing, what we've done, have we thought of this, and what about that fact, have you considered this, etc., etc., which I'm sure they think is helpful and constructive, but all it does is make me feel like they don't trust us or support us in our endeavors.
It is especially annoying because, so far, I have done or am in the process of doing everything that these well-wishing people ask me about. I answer all of their questions with skill and grace, and they are usually relieved and back off (for awhile). But it seems like either Rafe or I are fending off a well-intended relative daily! Argh! >:(
I feel like I should be able to just shine them on, but it's not so easy when they're actively engaging you and asking questions. I just find it really insulting and get really defensive, which isn't good. I know they're trying to help, and I know they want to be helpful and if I asked them to do something they would do it. But really, I swear, this petite 25-year-old chick has everything under control, okay, really! So back off until I ASK for your help.
Hiked up Sauk Mountain today with Tarn. Beautiful, and a surprisingly easy hike compared to the last time I climbed it a couple of years ago. All my working out is paying off. 26 switchbacks on that puppy. We saw marmots (they look like ground hogs with long tails) checking us out today from their rock, so cute!
