It's been a pretty good day

It's still raining and cold here - more like March than July - but I've had a good day nonetheless.

* I had an ashtanga yoga class first thing, which was hard work but rewarding. I've started this class now as an alternative to Pilates, as I lost my brilliant teacher Ali when she gave up to have a baby and my replacement teacher just had a really poor classroom manner. My yoga teacher is a rather cool guy called Norman, who's very keen that we don't "judge ourselves" but that we "focus on our own practice and be in this moment". Makes a nice change to being told off for not putting our bags in the right place or for having short hamstrings :)

* I then spent the rest of the day with RLBF Tory. We demonstrated that we are rufty tufty independent women by fitting a new light switch and 2 wall lights in her dining room, and then spent the rest of the afternoon watching movies and knitting. We saw Cabaret, which I am ashamed to admit that I had never seen before, and Vanity Fair with Reese Witherspoon as Becky Sharp. I enjoyed VF a lot, but I thought Becky was portrayed a little too sympathetically.

* RLBF Tory also gave me an "All Men Are Bastards" present consisting of The Devil Wears Prada and Little Miss Sunshine on DVD. I did explain that all men are not in fact bastards, and particularly not The Boy, but she was nice enough to let me keep them anyway. Bless her.

Anyway, typing is getting a little difficult as Violet is currently trying to camp out on the laptop keyboard. So I guess I'll see y'all tomorrow :)
