Perna looked up from her reading as she saw Carson leave the infirmary from the corners of her eyes. It hurt that he hadn't asked her to join him for lunch. It was a habit she had gotten used to back home on Hoff. And by the way he'd smiled, she could guess who he was going to have for company during the meal.
She tried not to be upset about it. Carson still was a friend. He might never return her feelings, but it wouldn't do any good if she cried her eyes out over a man she couldn't have.
With a sigh she rubbed her forehead. Maybe lunch wasn't a bad idea, she decided. She closed the lid of the laptop and let her look wander around in the infirmary. She'd never seen such distruction and so many wounded. Her gaze came to stop at Airman Jackson's bed and she smiled. Maybe he was awake and felt good enough to make a small trip to the Athosian area, as he had promised the previous day, she wondered as she got up from the chair. It would be a welcoming distraction for both of them. And as far as she knew Carson even suggested that the Airman took a short walk today.
"Hello Airman Jackson," she greeted with a smile as she neared his bed. "How are you feeling?"
