Crossovers Batch 3: Remix Redux 08

Apr 20, 2008 12:45

I hope that by the time I get my act together enough to have written sufficient fic in one of the qualifying fandoms to participate in Remix, musesfool (or someone, anyway) will still be running it, because it sounds like a ton of fun. I also wish I had more time today for fic-reading, as it opened for reading yesterday and there are plenty more that interest me. But schoolwork calls, and so, instead I will content myself with having sampled some of the crossovers. (I have a huge weakness for crossovers. I think this comes from character interaction being the number one reason I read fic. There are many other elements I appreciate in fic, but good, interesting character interaction is at the top of the list. It probably helps that I tend to believe that in some way, most of those other elements could be thought of as collapsing into human interaction, sometimes just on a rather grand scale.) I enjoyed enough of them that it seemed to make sense to throw together a reclist. I have all sorts of half put-together reclists lying around on my hard drive and crazy elaborate plans for others, but sometimes it's good just to get something out there. I'm sure my profs wish I would apply that concept to grad school more often.

Note: the authors listed here are all sockpuppets; I will hopefully remember to go back and add actual authors once the reveal occurs. Authors added!

A Moon-Lit Challenge (The Ill-Met, Proud Titania Remix) by vulgarweed. Good Omens/His Dark Materials, Adam/Lyra, "with appearances by, of course, Pantalaimon, as well as Mary Malone, Dog, Aziraphale, Crowley, and a guest star," R. This is utterly gorgeous, in a rather dark and overwhelming and aching sort of way, with just enough levity mixed in as counterpoint. Seriously lovely.

Attack of the Five Foot Ten Woman (The Slip Your Skin Remix) by musesfool (eta: I totally should have guessed!). Sports Night/Supernatural, no pairing, PG. Structured as Jeremy writing a letter to Louise, featuring Dean, Sam, and the Sports Night ensemble. Hilarious and charming, with a fantastic Jeremy-voice, spot-on Sorkinesque dialogue, and excellent flow. Delightful.

It's Hour Come Round (The Paradigm Shift Remix) by medie. Smallville/Supernatural, Chloe/Sam, PG-13. Absorbing and fascinating, and Chloe is terrific in this. Very cool.

Every Farthing of the Cost (the Dingoes Ate My Baby remix) by meredavechon. Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Harry Potter, Oz & Remus, implied Remus/Sirius, PG. Quiet, warm, and thoroughly enjoyable.

good omens, buffyverse, medie, crossovers, musesfool, sports night, remix, vulgarweed, his dark materials, harry potter series, recs, meredavechon, supernatural, smallville
